Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Sumaia collects and handles your data when you visit this site or contact us through WhatsApp or Calendly.

Last updated: 2026-04-15

Who we are

Sumaia is an independent web design practice, operated by Baptiste Montagnier as a French sole trader (entrepreneur individuel, EI) registered under SIRET 92816303900029. Sumaia serves clients in French, English, and Spanish. The data controller is Baptiste Montagnier. For any question about your personal data or the exercise of the rights listed below, email contact@sumaia.fr or reach out via the WhatsApp link at the bottom of this page. We reply within one month, in accordance with GDPR Article 12. This deadline may be extended by two months for complex requests.

What data we collect

This site runs no analytics and no tracking scripts. We do not collect your name, your email, your IP address, or any identifier from your visit. Server logs kept by the hosting provider (Vercel) for security and uptime purposes are governed by Vercel's own policy and are not accessed by Sumaia for any marketing or profiling purpose.

Cookies

This site sets no cookies of its own. Third-party services embedded on a page, such as the Calendly iframe on the Contact page, may set cookies within their own domain when you interact with them. Those third-party cookies fall under each provider's own privacy policy.

Third-party services

Two third-party services are reachable from this site. WhatsApp (wa.me link) opens a conversation in the WhatsApp app, governed by Meta's policy; when you send us a message you share your phone number and the content of your message with Meta and with Sumaia. Calendly (iframe on the Contact page) schedules calls, governed by Calendly Inc.'s policy; when you book a slot you share your name, email, and any details you enter with Calendly and with Sumaia. Links to each provider's policy are available on request.

Legal basis for processing

When you reach out via WhatsApp or Calendly, you initiate the exchange yourself under those platforms' terms, with implied consent (GDPR Article 6(1)(a)). No personal data is processed outside of those exchanges.

Data retention

Conversations started through WhatsApp or Calendly are retained according to those platforms' own policies and to the duration of our commercial relationship. When a prospect does not turn into a client, the exchange is deleted within 12 months.

Your GDPR rights

Under GDPR you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, portability, restriction, and objection. Since this site collects no personal data client-side, these rights apply to the conversations you have started via WhatsApp or Calendly. For any request, email contact@sumaia.fr or reach out via the WhatsApp link at the bottom of this page. In case of dispute, you can file a complaint with CNIL, the French data protection authority.

International transfers

Calendly is a US-based company; the European Commission's standard contractual clauses cover data transfers, per Calendly's published data processing agreement. WhatsApp, owned by Meta, follows the same framework. These transfers concern only the data you choose to share when initiating contact.

This policy may evolve to reflect technical or regulatory changes. The last-updated date at the top of the page is the authoritative reference. Material changes will be flagged on the home page for 30 days.
